There are 33 members in the Faroese Parliament all directly elected in the one constituency.

At present there are 8 Ministries:

Heimastýrið (Home Rule) In 1948 The Faroe Islands obtained home rule with in Denmark and are because of that a self-governing part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
